Elsie Taliaferro Hill is an Assistant Professor of Drawing and Painting in the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art. Hill earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and worked as a commission portrait artist for 12 years. Hill received her MFA from the School of the Arts at Columbia University in the City of New York where she lived and worked as an artist for six years. During that time she was represented by the Nabi Gallery and participated in several solo and group exhibitions. Hill was recently commissioned to paint the official courtroom portrait of the Chief Judge of the Georgia Court of Appeals, the late Hon. Charles B. Mikell. Hill’s accolades include Second Place in the Armstrong National 2-D Competition, Armstrong Atlantic State University; Natural Resource Defense Council Environmental Art Award Finalist; D’Arcy Hayman Scholarship and Agnes Martin Fellowship, Columbia University.
