Miss Marine, aka the Art Room Queen, expresses her deep love of children 's art (and especially children's art supplies) in her own, colorful world of art and fashion. Crayons are her absolute favorite. She shares, "The way they smell and feel, how easily they break and melt--not to mention the incredible variety of colors--I love everything about crayons. Except how many old, broken crayons accumulate in my supply closet every year." Using her never-ending supply of ''gently used" crayons, Nancy has built large-scale crayon mosaics, melted crayon encaustic paintings, cut and drilled crayon-bead jewelry and even worn clothes made with crayons on the Runaway Runway, a recycled-materials fashion competition. Both of her runway awards, 2013 Rocking the Runway Top Model award and 2016 Funky Junk award were crayon-based designs. Miss Marine states, "I've been teaching elementary art so long, crayons have become a part of who I am--under my nails, ground into my floor, melted in my pockets, flowing in veins and in every cell in my body."
