New Orleans, LA
Kevin Lajoie is a self-proclaimed New Acadian now living in New Orleans, Louisiana. After purchasing his first Polaroid camera in 2012, never having worked with photography before, Kevin has dedicated the majority of his career working with photographers and journalists in the New Orleans metro area, documenting the seemingly trivial day-to-day lives of locals. His work seeks to absolve the notion that "shooting straight" lacks the character that heavy Photoshopping and using grand lenses can allegedly elevate your art. The surreal can be found as long as you can capture it. He admires and seeks to emulate, with his own touch, the works of Elliot Erwitt, Lee Friedlander, Bruce Davidson, and Gary Winogrand.
