The artist was born in Pensacola, Florida in 1948. Mr. Bond grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida from the age of 5. Bond attended high school there and St. Petersburg Junior College, later moving to New York City to attend the School of Visual Arts. He later moved back to Florida to finish his formal education at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
During the 1970s and 80s, he worked as a graphic artist and showed extensively around Florida, including such prestigious shows as Coconut Grove in Miami, Gasparilla in Tampa, Winter Park in Orlando, with approximately 75 shows during this period. Bond has been able to show a range of work including serigraphy, painting, and gum bichromate photography. Also, there have been many juried shows including the annual Festival of States competition, Florida Creates 1973, a yearlong exhibition that traveled to eight major venues in Florida. In 2004, Bond had a 20-year retrospective at Horizon Line Gallery in Tampa. For seventeen years Mr. Bond owned the Kent Bond Gallery in Tampa.
Since early 2008 Mr. Bond has been making collages of found images. They were shown for the first time in the winter of 2010.
