A native of Virginia, Kathy Holland attended the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and printmaking in 1978. The following summer she studied wood-engraving with Blair Hughes-Stanton, a master of the medium, at the Central School of Art and Design in London, England. She has worked as a artist ever since graduating VCUArts, with drawings, etchings, relief prints, and paintings included in juried national and international exhibitions and solo shows. She has also worked as a freelance graphic artist, medical illustrator, muralist, portraitist, art show juror, and drawing instructor. In 1986, she emigrated to Canada, lived in the small rural town of Deep River, Ontario for over 11 years, and exhibited her work extensively in solo shows throughout Ontario and in juried shows across the US. Since moving to East Tennessee in 1997 she has been an active member of the Art Market Gallery in Knoxville and has participated in numerous regional, national, and international exhibitions, including two solo shows in 2016. Besides her studio work, she has also taught occasional drawing and painting classes at the Oak Ridge Art Center and the Knoxville Museum of Art. Kathy's work is included in public and private collections in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Uruguay. She lives and maintains a studio in Oak Ridge, TN.
