Barboursville, WV
A native of Huntington, West Virginia, I have lived and worked in this area for most of my life. I received public education here and chose to teach art in the same school system.
College: Undergraduate credits were earned at Syracuse University in New York and Marshall College in Huntington, West Virginia.
An AB degree and a teaching certificate were received in 1959 and a Master's degree in art education in 1964 from Marshall University, with post graduate from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
My career in art began in 1960 as an art teacher choosing high school instead of college. I started entering juried art competitions shortly afterward. After 30 years teaching, I took advantage of an early retirement opportunity to become a full-time studio artist working in a variety of media. Throughout the United States, my work has been selected for private collections.
I have art in permanent collections of museums, businesses and corporations, including four pieces in the permanent collection of McGraw Hill Publishing Company and the West Virginia State Museum. An exhibition highlight was being invited to exhibit in the National Gallery of American Art in Washington, D.C.
