Chris Bilton could be thought of as a modern Neo-Renaissance artist. In his words, he is inspired by “the artists of the High Renaissance, and the way their disciplines seem to intertwine and crossover, creating a deeper aesthetic and a more profound truth.” At the same time, he infuses traditional art techniques with his modern sensibilities to create art that clearly conveys the influence of twentieth century art and of contemporary thinking. In the Renaissance spirit, he paints, draws and sculpts in many media. He designs and builds musical instruments including electric basses, guitars, drums, and upright basses. He plays all of those and the piano. He makes entertaining art animations, which can be viewed on YouTube. He runs Bilton Arts Studio in Eutawville, SC with his wife, Carmen, and teaches at CCU. His MFA is from The Graduate School of Figurative Art at The NY Academy of Art.
