Ed and Barbara Streeter are visual artists and long-time residents of Conway, SC where they own and operate Conway Glass Company. They design, manufacture and assemble works for commercial and residential installations and also, most importantly, work to create original works of art by hand blowing and forming glass and textiles into unique compositions.
The Streeters work as an artist team and collaborate on large glass and textile sculptures and installations. Their gallery features a variety of their smaller, more intimate works. Included here are forms that suggest birds' nests and eggs, blown glass “horns,” and varieties of vases and bowls inspired by the skies and landscape of the South Carolina Low Country. Also on display is a replica of a blown glass ornament they designed for the Christmas Tree at the White House in Washington, DC in 2010.
Most recently the couple has completed a glass installation for Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. This work consists of over 350 pieces of blown glass and includes an 11-foot tall glass tree. In addition, Barbara was recently commissioned by One Columbia to lead the Hyperbolic Crochet Wisteria Project. It is a community-driven initiative, creating an 11-foot tall knitted and crochet sculpture to be installed in the new Richland Library Ballentine, Irmo, South Carolina in 2017.
