Peggy Armand's creativity has always been her guiding light. Her early life in the Caribbean gave rise to a fascination with natural forms and colors found in the ocean and lush tropical vegetation.
She later explored her creativity in architecture school at Pratt Institute where she learned to turn a concept into reality. She now uses her understanding of space and style in interior design, and increasingly in her art.
Her design work led to a 15-year adventure in retail, where she sold furniture and accessories imported from Morocco. The country’s juxtaposition of light and colors, and especially the dramatic contrast of architecture and nature were an endless source of inspiration.
But all the while, painting had been her true passion. All she had learned through her travels, studies, and experience came together over time.
Peggy has developed a method that makes use of watercolor and acrylic, in addition to East Asian paper and molten wax. Her work is made from a wide range of media and subjects mostly found in nature. This makes her art vibrantly profound, refreshingly heartfelt, and timelessly contemporary.
Keeping the subjects of her pieces simple, it is her use of texture, contrast, and a variety of media that give her work a wealth of vividness and movement. Each work presents an exciting new variation on Peggy’s interpretation of beauty and her ever-evolving creativity
