Conway, SC
Barbara Streeter is a visual artist and resides in Conway, SC. She maintains a fiber and a natural dye studio. She works to create public art and her passion is working with artists in their communities. She creates colorful compositions by crocheting, knitting, stitching and dyeing materials incorporating blown glass, mixed media and found objects. Her work contains subtle messages delivered with playful symbolism to express her ideas, emotions, and state of mind.
Barbara was awarded the S.C. Artists’ Ventures Initiative Grant in 2014 by the South Carolina Arts Commission. She promoted and produced a six-month arts initiative that was titled the Conway Open Studio Project. The project’s purpose was to raise the awareness of art-making as a career and to introduce visitors to entertaining, educational and fun experiences in downtown Conway. The event series featured a group of artists that worked collaboratively to invigorate the arts in downtown Conway, SC.
