Lindsey Bargar began photography as an escape from a very traumatic time in her life. On a regular basis she felt the need to conceal her identity, residing in a numbing state as someone other than herself. As time passed and she received her education in Commercial Photography from Winthrop University, she began to channel her identity or lack thereof into art. Identity became more of a game for her than a reality – serving as a survival tactic. By playing with colors, light, and expressive imagery or props, Lindsey is able to express herself in ways that feel safe. She feels a connection to others with her art. This allows her to bridge the gap and break away from the concept that art serves purely as an escape, but as a sort of private connection as well.
