Kathleen Pompe is Professor Emerita of Art from Francis Marion University, Florence, SC, where she taught the photography art specialty area in the Visual Arts Program. Her photographs and digital images have been exhibited extensively in one-person, invitational, and juried art shows throughout the United States and internationally in Australia and Hungary. Since 1995, most of her photographic work has been in digital imaging.
Most recently her photographic imagery has been exhibited in ArtFields, 2017 and 2016, and in the Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Competition, 2014 (receiving Best Photograph Award). Over the past 40 years she’s been the recipient of over 44 photography awards ranging from Best of Show to Honorable Mention, including numerous Cash and Purchase Awards. Her photography awards have been for images in digital, color, Polaroid, and black and white photography. Through an international competition she was awarded a month long International Artist in Residence in Budapest, Hungary in 2011, and continues to exhibit in juried art exhibits there.
She’s published numerous images and received awards in “Kakalak” (An annual publication of Poetry and Art). In 2015, she was honored as the first in a series of photographers to be the featured photographer in “moonShine Review” (A Creative Journal of Prose and Photography).
