Charlottesville, VA
Kelly Oakes is a professional painter and art teacher. Her figure paintings and portraits are exhibited in both local and national shows including ArtFields in Lake City, SC, Sin at Firefish Gallery in Charlottesville, VA, Local Color at McGuffey Art Center, and Naked in New Hope at Side Tracks Gallery in New Hope, PA. She is an exhibiting member of The McGuffey Art Center and her paintings hang in many collections nationwide.
Oakes holds a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts degree from The Maryland Institute of Art and has studied at the Parsons School of Design and The Art Students League in New York. She has taught middle and high school art for over ten years at The Covenant School, as well as several workshops and private lessons to all ages and levels.
Her work hangs in many private collections worldwide and has been widely featured in many publications including: “Better Homes and Gardens,” “The Daily Progress,” "Albemarle Magazine,” and the “C-Ville Weekly.”
Kelly currently lives in Charlottesville, VA, where she teaches and works in her studio at McGuffey Art Center.
