Greer, SC
Allison Brown grew up in Greenville, SC where she developed an appreciation for art at a young age. She took private classes until high school during which she attended the Fine Arts Center, and then the residential high school program at The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities. Both places were pivotal in her interest and development as an artist.
In 2012 Brown graduated from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, with a Bachelor's in Fine Art, focusing in ceramic sculpture. During her education at USC Allison attended an intensive art based study abroad program at the Tainan National University of the Arts in Tainan, Taiwan, where her art began to develop its own creative dialogue. After college, Allison spent her summer in Santa Fe, NM, working in a private studio and assisting a workshop at Santa Fe Clay.
Following her education, she moved back to her hometown of Greenville to begin a professional career in the arts. She now works out of her private studio making sculpture, drawings, and costumes/jewelry in the old Taylor's Mill where she has worked for over four years, exhibiting in numerous local and national exhibitions and galleries. She has spent time as a resident at Dreher Island State park in SC and The Bascom, in Highlands, NC. Besides her studio work, she now regularly teaches private and group classes out of her studio in drawing and ceramics, and participates in local art based performances under the stage name OMNIA Nyx.
