Deliberate lines and an inclusive use of color characterize the style of Bradley Carroll’s oil and acrylic paintings. Any narrative on subject matter in his work must be fluid, but structure is a common component. The son and brother of architects, Carroll finds inspiration in the cheek-by-jowl placement of architectural and natural elements. The untrained, self-styled naïve painter found his teacher in Joan Miró's “The Farm,” a single painting that will continue to inform his work. Recent exhibitions in Charleston, SC, at the Saul Alexander Gallery and the North Charleston Gallery have given Carroll an opportunity to publicly share his subjugation of realism and offer an alternative idea of what walking down the street and exploring our world can look like.
