Investigating how land use and social history influence cultural geography, Micah Cash’s work explores the visual languages of landscape and architecture through the prism of race, class, and gender. Themes of ownership, demarcation, and utilization are explored predominantly through painting and photography. Cash exhibits nationally in both solo and group exhibitions. His work has been featured most recently in “POLITICO” magazine, “The Bitter Southerner,” “Fraction” magazine, “The Atlantic," “Ninth Letter,” “Aint-Bad" magazine, “Places Journal,” and “Two Coats of Paint.” Cash received his MFA from the University of Connecticut and his Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. His first monograph, "Dangerous Waters: A Photo Essay on the Tennessee Valley Authority," was published by University of Tennessee Press in the fall of 2017.
