Michele Hoffman is an artist, live figure model, and an art teacher born and raised in Worcester, MA. She currently resides in Charlotte, NC, where she has been part of the local art community for the past 15 years. Her work has taken many forms over the years including figure drawing, painting, clay, sculpture, stained glass, mixed media, collage and assemblage, and most recently focusing on recycled materials and assemblage.
Initially becoming a live figure model in 2001, she was inspired by modeling for other artists to learn and grow as a self-taught artist. Michele found that she loved being immersed in the classroom atmosphere and collaborating with other like-minded creative artist. She began to approach her art very differently in 2006. Michele entered her work in various juried art shows and galleries in Charlotte. She learned to use different techniques and push her work in new directions. She began to explore the relationships between color and abstract forms using recycled toys.
Over the years, she has expanded her audience by showing at the McColl center for art and innovation, Lark and Key, Red Sky, gallery 22 and select silent auctions such as art with heart. Currently she facilitates figure-drawing classes at the Charlotte Art League and regularly organizes various hands-on art events such as Figured Out Life drawing, the Charlotte portrait society, and the Exquisite Corpse drawing.
