Main Street, TRAX Visual Art Center, Jones-Carter Gallery, Acline Studios or The Rob. Activation stations open at 11am, Friday, April 25th, and then follow regular open hours for the duration of the festival.
Art Explorers: Rhythm of Life (Grades 3K - 2)

Rhythm of Life (3K - 2nd Grade) A playful introduction to drumming, where little ones explore sounds, play rhythm games and discover the joy of music. Learning and Activity Objectives: Students will be introduced to the Djembe drum, a hand drum originating in West Africa and they will begin to explore its sound as the instructor shows them basic hand drumming techniques. Students will develop listening skills and rhythm awareness through an activity that involves lead and response drumming patterns. Students will also participate in a game with drums to build their confidence and allow for play time. The game may include storytelling or a drum circle. Note: Parents are asked to remain for the duration of the class.
