Art Explorers: Djembe Talk (Grades 3 -6)

Time: 11:30AM - 12:45PM

Location: Acline Studios - 132 N Acline Street

Admission: $5

Students will take a deeper dive into rhythm, teamwork, and creativity as older kids learn to collaborate, create their own beats and perform in a group setting. Learning and Activity Objectives: Students will be introduced to the Djembe drum based on their age levels and learn basic drum techniques and rhythm patterns. They will later build creativity through a short djembe storytelling exercise. Each student will create a short story that unfolds through rhythm. Each group plays a different part of the story. Students will use rhythms to express different parts of the story (happy, exciting, suspenseful, etc.), gain confidence playing the drum and put together a drum piece in small groups to perform at the end. As time permits, students will combine everything they've learned and perform a group piece at the end.
