Charleston, SC
Corrigan is oil painter whose portraits and landscapes pull together in a vibrant expressionistic manner, the play of light and the resulting changes in hue and shade in the course of the day. Her paintings are full of color and the joyful playfulness of life; surfaces imbued with light, color, and texture as the defining structures. She also works in other media – linocuts, woodcuts, photography, and clay sculpture. Corrigan’s artwork is in collections in the US, France, Great Britain and Japan, the Medical University of South Carolina, and Merrill Lynch. A painting of Corrigan’s commissioned by Coca Cola was presented to Barbara Bush. As The Gibbes Museum Poets and Painters Program artist-in-residence for 2005, her work graces the cover of a book of poetry and a novel. Ros Smith produced a short film in 2006 on her painting process. She founded Imprimatur Charleston in 2013 as an organization for fine art printmakers in the South. She was awarded the Griffith/Reyburn Lowcountry Artist award in 2014.
