This large wall-size installation is designed to heighten awareness of gun control in our communities. An installation that will, hopefully, shed some light on the hot-button issue of gun violence. To accentuate the concept for stopping gun violence, I am using a low resolution pixelation and drab colors to show a fading away, ghost-like image of a handgun; a gun which is no longer materializing but, in fact, is ripping apart to its atomic particles. Although the image can stand alone on its own merit, adding the text "DISARM" adds another dimension to the experience. As it's shown in the final picture, the word “DISARM” is cut in half on a 90-degree angle with a shorter wall that also will be provided by ArtFields to be painted by me displaying the remaining half of the word so that it surrounds the viewers with a total visual experience on both physical and intellectual levels, creating an atmosphere of calmness and encouraging conversations rather than fighting. A key factor in the overall impact of the piece is its sheer size and use of this new medium which enables duality between two different worlds of artistic and social awareness of the subject matter. The image morphs and changes its perspective as the viewer moves to either side, closer or farther away from it.
