This coat is knitted and pin-loom woven using 100% merino wool dyed by Malabrigo Yarn from Uruguay. It took 16 months to complete, incorporates 36 different colors and weighs more than 7 pounds! Each stripe in the skirt began with one embellished 4" pin-loom square. Black vents are featured between the stripes to both highlight the colors and to shape and vent the skirt. The vents are also designed to push the color stripes forward while standing still. The center back of the coat is a particularly pretty stitch giving the back surprising texture and warmth. Then notice the shoulders of the coat: the dragon scales are made by manipulating 2" pin-loom squares to create 'dragon scales.' Each one is made separately and then knitted in one at a time. Lastly, the front panel of the coat includes a dragon's head created with a technique I've developed called Talpa Sculpting. It's quite striking including eye, teeth, and split tongue. This is a coat that will demand attention!
