As a northern implant to the south, I have personally witnessed a shift in values in each location. I moved here to the Carolinas about 10 years ago from the suburbs of Philadelphia. I chose to paint Mr. Murray because he embodies the shift of priorities I saw first hand from each region. There is an unspoken charisma relative to the south that I see in Mr. Murray. That life is short. Do not take things so seriously, and have fun. I will always love where I came from, but have grown a huge appreciation for the values I have found in my new home.
