Inspired by religious imagery of the Renaissance, Cleansed By Blood is a modern triptych depicting the renewal and purification of the blood of Jesus. The first image in the triptych shows the Stigmata, or the wounds that Jesus received when he was crucified, the white veil has the dual representation of the shroud that was left behind in the tomb when Jesus arose and also the white linens that one will wear when in heaven. The second image depicts a bloody heart symbolic of the love of Jesus given freely and also one's new heart they receive, drenched in the blood of Jesus, when they become a believer. The third image depicts the blood coming out of one's mouth which is a representation of Proverbs 18:21. While our words have the capability to be healing or damaging, as the mouth can give life or curse one to death, the blood pouring out is symbolic of the Word which has been given to all to go forth and speak.
