I was born in Charlotte, NC and took to art early.



My inspirations and influences are quite varied but I would mention Early American Art and Primitivism, Early Renaissance Painting, Surrealism, Naturalist Painting, as well as the late Neoclassical Paintings of Andre Derain.



I enjoy the freedom of the creative process. Initially I may see an idea for a painting as a literal translation of the world playing in front of my eyes but the exhilaration that I experience, when I realize that I’m not bound to the literal image, is magical. Manipulating light, color, proportion, and relationships to create that which may not exist, yet is still believable and useful to the portrayal of the story is my ultimate goal and reward.
