Jennifer Niswonger received her bachelor’s degree in studio art from the University of Southern Indiana in 2014 where she received the 2015 Efroymson Fellowship. Through her work and research at the University of Georgia where she received her MFA in 2019, she was awarded the Willson Center Graduate Research Award and the Frierson Graduate Fellowship among other scholarships. Inspired by real life stories, her work visually explores the gray area found in debates on morality and human nature through staged narratives and allegory. Many of her figurative oil paintings pull from the political, the psychological, and the controversial with a focus on when the perceived objective morality of the collective and the unexamined subjective morality of the individual are at odds. Most recently, Niswonger was invited to participate in several exhibitions including DARKERKANT in Hamburg, Germany and The Artist’s Journey: Adventures of the Archetypal Artist in Atlanta, Georgia.
