I developed an interest in art at an early age and began to explore and express myself through drawing and painting. Upon graduating from St. Augustine's University in 1972 with a B.A. in Fine Arts, I attended the Art Students' League of New York City. There I studied drawing and oil painting under Hughie Lee Smith and artistic anatomy under Robert Beverly Hale et al. My greatest art influence originated from the Old Masters and French Impressionists. My last showing in New York City was in the Cork Gallery at The Lincoln Center. I have been a free lance artist since my return home to Durham, N.C. in 2006. Shortly after my return, I was commissioned to paint a mural for Lincoln Community Health Center. My paintings have been exhibited at the Sun Trust Gallery, the Carrack Gallery, the Block Galleries in Raleigh and Hayti Heritage Center in Durham, N.C. I am a member of the Durham Art Guild and lifetime member of The Art Students' League of New York.
