Anicka Austin is an Atlanta-based artist and archivist. She received her B.A. in Dance from Kennesaw State University and, in 2020, an M.S. in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her choreographic work has been presented by Atlanta's Office of Cultural Affairs, The Lucky Penny and Fulton County Arts and Culture, and exhibited in Atlanta at Gallery 72, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia and the Zuckerman Museum Fine Arts Gallery. In 2018, she co-directed the short film Birth of Pleasure which has been presented at Indie Grits and Roxbury film festivals. She is a 2015-18 Lucky Penny Work Room resident artist, 2017 Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts Distinguished Fellow and a 2017-18 WonderRoot Hughley Fellow. She currently works as project archivist for the Geoffrey Holder and Carmen de Lavallade papers at Emory University’s Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library.
