Like most artists, I have been creating for as long as I remember. It is an instinctual drive that is influenced by the many places that I traveled during childhood. I lived in Japan for several years and my art is very much influenced by Asian culture. My family settled in South Carolina where I studied Studio Art at USC with a focus on metalsmithing. My artwork is ever changing as I tend to get bored working in one medium for too long. But after working with watercolor, oil, clay, glass and metal, I fell in love with textiles and fibers. Several years back I made an art “doll” for a gift and found that I had to apply almost every skill I had ever learned to complete the task. How fully satisfying that was for me! As my skills improve, my figures are evolving and becoming more complicated. I have recently started working the figures in clay and inserting them into mixed medium constructions. This multi-step process seems to satisfy my attention deficit!
