Ron Hagell has lived many lifetimes. He was an Army officer in Vietnam in one and a PBS producer/director and executive with the Lifetime Network in another.
He taught art practice at Royal Holloway (University of London) for over 20 years. Ron also taught at the Rhode Island School of Design, Columbia University (NYC), and on a Fulbright in Germany and Portugal.
Ron has been an artist all his life and his works are largely narrative, based on cultural Diaspora, social issues, portraiture, and dance. His more recent past work was in film and photography. He often makes creative visual art statements on social issues such as the gun crisis and 1950s segregation in the USA.
Ron has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia University (NYC) and studied at UNC, Rhode Island School of Design, and American University (DC). He now lives and makes art in Columbia, SC.
