So far in 2021, there were 470 US Mass Shootings with 2,409 victims. In 2020 there were over 3,000. This annual nightmare of carnage is a national disgrace and despite the horrors across the whole country, lawmakers can not reject the gun lobby. Likewise, they fear losing votes to gun owners who fear even one law that takes any gun or limits who can own them. The weapon here is in use in the US military today. It is an exact replica in size design and weight. It is the grandson of the M16 that this artist used in Vietnam 54 years ago. That rifle spawned the AR15 and all its variations that are the weapons of choice by most mass shooters. It was designed as an efficient military assault machine that can kill many, many people as quickly as possible by one shooter. It has no more right to be in the hands of the public than a tank. AR15 owners often speak reverently about these assault rifles. It's like a religion.
