My work much like game playing, is an exploratory search for inter-locking elements forming surprising arrangements… or not. Using imaginary grids and classical painting modes, my paintings collide with contemporary expression of gestural and vague notions of reality. Ideas and emotions then, present themselves and remind me of personal inclinations or new concepts and a title is born. Within ‘Evidence’, I wished to explore both textural and value patterns much like the Cubist using modern water based mixed-media [acrylics, printmaking, crayons, and stencils). ‘Evidence’, then sparked suggestions of clues that seem important, leading to conclusions in an almost forensic way – equipment, samples and envelopes of unknown collected items. With accents of bright cool and warm hues played against a fragmented geometric-like ground, a collection of unrelated but somehow mysteriously associated shapes and textures announce emphatically the search for an answer is under way.
