2020 (Home Planet) At first, I felt shock, disbelief, crippling uncertainty, and in some way a kind of relief, as my responsibilities and stress from my regular life was at a crescendo by the second week of March. Like so many others, I focused on home to cope: gardening, baking, eating and drinking. I crafted this planet based on my house and yard, an homage to this place that sheltered me and my loved ones during a time that seemed like the end of the world. It brings to my mind many questions: How can we exert some kind of control over our lives? On what planets do others live? Surely many live on much more barren planets, or more chaotic planets, or planets on the verge of destruction. This planet, this bubble, is intentionally made to look fake, as our homes and the bubbles we live in are a construct which will eventually dissolve back into the very real Earth which connects us all, no matter how much we resist.
