For the past 30 years, I’ve worked in wire, faces have been my language. My commitment to this medium and subject matter have never wavered because the reward has kept increasing with every sculpture. Wire, the most innocuous item found in the back of a junk drawer, has a sculptural potential that has only barely been tapped. With every new sculpture I'm building on discoveries from the last sculpture. Join Me - A Prelude, however, is my first attempt to incorporate the totality of what I've learned. I invite you to stand before the work -see how the expression shifts when you look at it from its concave and then convex angles. Next, cast a shadow of the work via your cell phone's flashlight. See how moving your light up and down you can bring out infinite variations of mood and expression. Join Me transcends the idea of capturing a single moment in time, it's a prism, revealing in shadow a depth of shifting moods and feeling, as deep and as varied as the moment that inspired it.
