Brian Rust resides in Augusta GA and is best known as a public artist but also creates wood, clay, and photo-based sculptures. Brian was born in the Washington state and received a BFA from the University of Washington and an MFA from UC Berkeley. Brian is currently a full professor for the Department of Art and Design at Augusta University.
Brian has exhibited his sculpture and installations in venues throughout the United States including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in Atlanta Ga, the Melvin Johnson Sculpture Garden at the Chautauqua Institution in NY, the South Carolina Botanical Garden in Clemson SC, and Georgetown University in Washington DC. Brian was commissioned to create an earthwork titled Natural Infinity Revisited in 2016 in Missouri at the Lay Center Sculpture Park. In other recent activity, Brian created Stone Boat, a natural material benching area for the Augusta Canal in 2019. Brian has worked with large scale digital photography for the last 7 years.
