This piece was created from the figurative ashes of our democracy after the January 6th Insurrection. The paper is smoldered pages from an Art History book depicting historical American moments. The weaving is made from locally sourced alpaca hair and wool. The subject of this piece is a young woman witnessing a shameful moment in American History; she is a witness to the racial and social injustices that preceded the Insurrection. She is our American witness.
