I create large-scale works meant to be viewed in the round, derived from expired instant film, often with thread sewn into the surface, to explore our deceptive relationship with memory. I photograph candid portraits, as fleeting moments of interaction and private domestic interior spaces but often the images result in a low exposure and are abstract in composition. My photographs are less about the content of the subject I am photographing and more concerned with the level of exposure the film allows. I am interested in how we process memory and how malleable those memories are over time. I recreate the physical polaroid through large format photographic prints and I sew directly into them with to scale twine. The result of this process contains both actual and implied textures, asking viewers to access what is real and what is reproduced.
