My approach to creating art is a bit backwards, like reading a book from the end to the beginning. I don’t usually set out to create specific images. As a process person my creative experience involves an intensive exploration of mediums and materials. Through experimentation I discover clues to a theme and eventually I discover an emerging visual narrative and is usually characterized by translucent layers of color and pattern. I have spent 35 years exploring fiber art and the common theme in my work is a visual or literal fusing of multiple layers creating depth and mystery. I love the qualities created from various opacities layered together until the story unfolds.
