Casey Schachner, is an Assistant Professor of Art at the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art in the College of Arts and Humanities. Born and raised in Florida and coastal South Carolina, she received her BFA in Studio Art from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and MFA in Studio Art from the University of Montana in Missoula. Prior to joining Georgia Southern University she was teaching three-dimensional design and sculpture at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She has been awarded residencies at the University of Georgia School of Art in Cortona, Italy and the Carving Studio & Sculpture Center in Vermont. In 2017, she was selected as the Emerging Artist at Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild in Lincoln, Montana and in 2018, she received a People's Choice award for her sculpture exhibited at the Public Art Exhibition on Hilton Head Island. Her practice includes stone carving, glass casting, and metals, with an interest in the intersection of digital and analog processes.
