First created in 2009, the Biernbaum Jewelry Armoire began as a number of challenges… the first, from my mom, artist Marty Biernbaum, was to build a jewelry cabinet for her while meeting a few simple, but specific needs that she needed for jewelry storage and design. The second challenge, for myself, was to take a few basic shapes, including a rectangle, a curve and a couple of straight lines and bind them together to create something that would be useful, pleasing to live with and look at and fun and challenging to design and make. Needless to say we were very pleased with the results and the design has remained relatively the same, save for slight variations and insight into construction technique, which make each armoire a refreshing challenge. As of early 2023 I have made almost two dozen of these beautiful creations, including the latest, which you see here, made from walnut, ambrosia maple and stainless steel.
