Nathan Spainhour

I'm a creative director, brand strategist, graphic designer, teacher, photographer, map lover, architecture enthusiast, and a child of the 80s.



I was born and raised in the upstate of South Carolina, then took a short detour to Tallahassee, FL where I received my undergrad in studio art from Florida State University. I ended up back in in Greenville, SC and have now been working in the creative industry for 20 years.



Outside of my professional life in creative direction and brand strategy, I work in mediums spanning from photography to screen printing. Recently I received an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts and produced a thesis called "Wood, Smoke and Fire" focusing on the visual culture of South Carolina barbecue.



My current work centers around the relationship between place and memory. There is a physiological connection between the two topics and I try to interpret and visualize this connection in ways that are meaningful to myself and the viewer.
