I am a child of the rural South, growing up in the 50's and 60's. My love of the outdoors stems from roaming the woods and fields as a child. History has always been of great interest to me and I am known to spend hours in old cemeteries reading inscriptions on headstones. There may be a gypsy somewhere in my background, as I am happiest when traveling to new and interesting places. There is always a camera close by and much of my work is based on my photographs. I became an artist by accident, progressing from seamstress to quilter to art quilter. I enjoy the tactile quality of working with fabric, threads, and other embellishments. Taking bits of cloth and turning them into a portrait or landscape, then giving it depth with stitching never ceases to excite me.
