Andrea Stubbs is a contemporary wood burning artist presently living in Charleston, SC. My artistic process began as a child in NYC, as I was drawn to all things creative.
Passionate about music, dance and visual art, I was always a little “different” from the other girls on the block. Given the opportunity to attend creative arts camp on Marthas Vineyard for many of my adolescent years, I embraced every art, music and dance class available. A self taught artist, always dabbling and sketching.
About 25 years ago I got inspired by some drab wooden furniture I’d purchased for my sons and decided to burn design into the wood. That evolved to other objects, mostly boxes, vessels, frames, and ornaments.
Nowadays I’ll take on anything wood. Boards, furniture, objects, and what I like to call “form and function” pieces. My inspiration comes from music, nature, stories, conversation and life experience. The compositions run the gamut from the real to the abstract.
