I am a lifelong learner that has been in academics for thirty years. I am currently the Chair of the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art at Georgia Southern and work diligently to provide a student-centered curriculum and pedagogy. My professional research has always been color. This use of color has taken on many forms but is the common thread through all of my work. This research in combination with Creating the Flora and Fauna from environments that I live in has been my muse. Born and raised in the Midwest led me to the prairie and it's wild flowers. A lot of my work came from the time spent living in Illinois and hiking these tall grass prairies. Moving to Georgia was a big shift in my environment and changing drastically the flora and fauna that had always been my inspiration. However, this shift has proven to enhance my color research and opened me to all sorts of flower and animal species that I had never encountered. Moving to Georgia has felt like moving home.
