Jim Wysolmierski is a second year MFA student from the University of Central Florida in Emerging Media: Studio Art and Design, and a BA in 2020, from the University of South Florida in Studio Art. From 1994 to 2010, he was a national and international touring musician. The road took a toll on his life and he turned to drugs and alcohol. Since becoming sober, Jim has found a new passion in creating art that tells his story about recovery. He examines the past and present of who and where he is or was in recovery, and transmits that through his art. He believes that his work can spread a message of perseverance and hope for others who may be trying to overcome adversities. By combining traditional craft with newer technology, he metaphorically recalls the past, so he is not doomed to repeat it, while embracing a future, that is evolving and growing with ever grateful opportunities.
