Drawing inspiration from the people around her as well as her own personal life experiences, Allison infuses personal and universal narratives to stir the viewer to explore the connections between physical existence and identity, invoking viewers to question and connect to the stories behind each painting.

“Working with my hands has always allowed me a place to concentrate. When I'm engaged in a painting, the surrounding static of everyday is silenced and all that exists is the relationship to the story I share with the person I'm painting. In its simplest form, I create portraits and figurative works to tell a story from my perspective about who I’m painting. My interest in portraiture and figurative painting started early from the need to assign a narrative to others. I learned over time that perceptions weren't always reality. Understanding this concept highlighted the complexities in relationships and the difficult nature of understanding context.”
