Matt Dyson

Matt Dyson has a long history working with metal. From a welding class in high school to an associate’s degree in welding technology to employment in various industries, he has been working on his craft in some form for almost twenty-five years.



Around 2015, Matt started a business of his own, Dyson Custom Creations. This provided him the space and opportunity to work on more artistic endeavors. He has made custom products for customers all across the Southeast.



Early in 2020, Matt and his wife Sarah left their home in Asheville and moved to rural Eastern North Carolina. When Matt saw the worn out implements and discarded tractor parts in their friends’ scrap metal piles, he started getting creative ideas. One of his favorite things to make has been large steel flowers. His entry, ‘Iron Weeds’, shows not only his love for giving salvaged materials new life, it shows his skill as a craftsman that has developed over a long and varied career.
