Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Heather Ryan Kelley holds a BFA in printmaking from Southern Methodist University and an MA in painting from Northwestern State University. She recently retired as professor of art from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where she taught painting and book arts.
Kelley’s work is a part of the New York Public Library’s Berg Collection, Cornell University Library, SUNY at Buffalo’s Poetry Collection, University of Tulsa’s McFarlin Library, Notre Dame’s Hesburgh Library, the James Joyce Centre, Dublin, Ireland, and UT’s Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center. Kelley is represented by the Baton Rouge Gallery, Center for Contemporary Art. She lives and works in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
