Nowhere Is Now Someplace Else' considers the vast expanse that is our emotional experience across space and time, looking toward collective feelings of pain and suffering alongside their opposites, peace and happiness. This work proposes the capability to reverse pain into pleasure, privacy into publicity, and restraint into release, or more radically, to collapse any distinction in between. It is the result of two separate year-long performances in which the artist used the camera for confessional, twice a day, every day, first in the years 2016 - 2017, and then later performed in 2021 - 2022. Each of the 26 CRT TV's is dedicated to one month from its respective year, and play simultaneously, creating a cacophony of 'confessions', encouraging viewers' selective listening. Five years’ time separates the two halves of the sculptural installation; a flatscreen monitor sits at its center. The presentation of then versus now mimics our experience with present thought and memory, faraway.
