Susan J. Lapham

The contemporary art of Susan J Lapham has been described as a lively dance between steady geometry and sparkling movement. Her award-winning work has been exhibited in Quilt National, Visions Art Museum, Form Not Function, Art Quilt Elements, Quilts=Art=Quilts and regional venues such as Glen Echo Park, Strathmore Mansion, Torpedo Factory, Craft Hilton Head and The D’Art Center. Born in Jerusalem, Lapham lived in the Middle East and North Africa for the first 12 years of her life. She received degrees in Cartography and Statistics and has worked as a mapmaker, statistician, and senior executive for nearly 40 years. She is Principal Investigator on National Institutes for Health grants focusing on behavioral health and is Director of a sixty-year longitudinal study of human development and aging. Exercising her right brain, she spends her time outside work creating fine art from fabric.
