Rural Repository is the excavation of artifacts from the southern Black community of Western Union Park. This dig gives evidence of mystified bodies' lives all while paying homage to the unceded territory of the Waxhaw, Catawba, and Cheraw peoples. This series was cultivated with an archaeological mindset while taking into deep consideration the myth of the Black identity. Western Union Park is a redlined community with a historically Black school that has served as the nucleus of the community in Mineral Springs, North Carolina. The clay paper itself is the embodiment of the fact the land is wealth while the autumn leaves pay homage to the guardian trees that fortify this sanctuary. The charcoal illustrates the construction of the mythification of the Black identity reflecting the resonance despite our legacy. Malik J. Norman will establish his paradise through LIGHT, LOVE, and by being a steward of the LAND and community.
